In April 2002 Hugo Chavez, the flamboyant leader of the Latin American state of Venezuela, was forcibly removed from office by the military. Many people believe that the violence which preceded the coup as well as the coup itself was encouraged and aided by foreign powers such as the US. Two Irish film-makers Kim Bartley and Donnacha O'Briain were on hand to document the coup from inside the presidential palace. They remained for the 48hrs after the coup and until Chavez was returned to power after mass demonstrations by the Venezuela people.
