A group of Irish parents have come together to form a group called SOUND (Sufferers of Unique Narcolepsy Disorder) after their children developed narcolepsy. The development of the disorder is being linked with the swine flu or H1N1 virus vaccine, Pandemrix. In the last year over 20 children have developed narcolepsy and have also received the Pandemrix vaccine. Studies in Sweden and Finland have also shown the link. Further, research will need to be conducted to investigate whether there is a causal link between the vaccine and the development of narcolepsy in children.

Everybody is talking about the childrens.I clearly understand that manoryty of those case are when childrendeveloped narcolepsy and i'm devastated and very sad, can't imagine their quality of life with this disorder.
But i want to know where i stand and who is supporting us-adults.I developed symptoms of narcolepsy-cataplexy shorthly after i received a vaccine(late 2009).We as medical professionals were strongly advice to get one.prior to that i was never sick,active and full of life.everything has changed now.I afraid to go to the meetings or attend any courses because i will be falling asleep.My diagnosis was not confirm yet, but i hope it will be soon.(Im 36yrs)Just wondering if there is more adults in ireland who are developed narcolepsy after receiving swine flu vaccine.
