We can all admit it, even if we don't like to but most mornings we wake up and ponder the destiny of the earth and wonder, will it always be the bountiful mother of life or will one day the earth be destroyed, die or otherwise.
Asteroids, meteorites and comets they are the most imminent solar worry, an asteroid over 50 miles in diameter would pretty much wipe out all higher life forms on the planet.
A gamma ray burst, solar flare or quasar could also do the job. A gamma burst could literally be powerful enough to annihilate our entire solar system including the sun.
Black holes, rogue and wandering, if one decided to get too close that would spell a certain doom.
An alien invasion is also quite possible, they might drop by and milk us of all our resources and continue on their merry way. And last but not least and not even one of the eight, some fictitious man in the sky and his son may 'come back' and put an end to all of sinners and hedonists.
